Earth Day 2007
Earth Day, every day, at DGS
The first-ever "Earth Day the Ziggurat," held April 18th at DGS headquarters along the Sacramento River, featured interactive displays and exhibits from more than 50 participants showcasing how to save energy, conserve natural resources, and reduce our impact on climate change, both on the job and at home.
DGS Employees Lead by Example; Pledge to Save Energy, Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions
During the event, DGS employees were, once again, leading by example as more than 1,100 people took the US ENERGY STAR "Change a Light, Change the World" pledge. PG & E provided those who took the pledge with a free, super energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb.
According to the U.S. EPA, if every U.S. household replaced just one incandescent light bulb at home with one that has earned the ENERGY STAR label, the country would save enough power to light seven million homes, and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to one million cars!
