What YOU can do to "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle"

The following are examples of how DGS employees are "working green" at DGS headquarters at the Ziggurat in West Sacramento:

• Batteries: The Ziggurat has a system in place for recycling your used batteries. 
  
• Beverage Containers: Information on what you can (and can't) recycle and where at the Zig.
  
• Inkjet & Toner Cartridges: Recycling at the Zig.
  
• Packing Peanuts: Take packing peanuts, and the container they came in, to the Ziggurat mailroom in the basement, where they will be reused by the Business Services Office.
  
• Paper & Cardboard: Information on what you can (and can't) recycle and where at the Zig.
  
• Phone Books: The DGS has a new policy to maximize our use of online phone books, while decreasing the number of paper phone books in the Zig. 

The Green Exchange

• Preventing waste by reusing surplus office supplies at the Ziggurat. The DGS BSO (Business Services Office) Green Exchange is open for business.

Recycling 101

• You can make a difference: Recycling both on the job and at home.

• Find your nearest recycling center.
  
• Junk Mail: How can you stop junk mail? The California Department of Consumer Affairs has a few solutions for you.
  
• Recycling e-waste: Want to find a location to e-cycle electronic waste? Help is just a click away.

"Refill, not Landfill"

• Bring a reusable beverage container, or mug, to the Zig cafeteria, and receive a nice discount on your hot or cold drink purchases and refills!
